Janet Murray Courageous Content Podcast Headshot

Looking for some content ideas for November?

In this episode of the Courageous Content Podcast, which you can also read as a blog, I’ll share 16 ready-to-go content ideas for November for small business owners. They’re based on the fill-in-the-gaps social media templates in my 2023 Courageous Content Planner & Content Kit.

You can use them as inspiration for social media posts, blogs, newsletters, podcasts (and any other content you create to promote your business).

Here’s the awareness dates I cover:

A reminder that you don’t have to use awareness days ‘literally’ – you can use the ‘theme’ of the post.

I explain this in more detail in this blog post/podcast on how to turn awareness days into content (without being cheesy, cliched or sounding like everyone else online) and give lots of examples.

4 types of content for businesses and brands

Stress Awareness Day (November 2)

Regardless of what type of business you have, you can create content for Stress Awareness Day (i.e. you don’t have to be a counsellor, coach or psychotherapist).

To create a news/trends post you can share tips on reducing stress in a particular month or season.

For example:

[INSERT NUMBER] ways to reduce stress in [INSERT MONTH OR SEASON] as a [CALL OUT IDEAL CUSTOMER/CLIENT]

1️⃣ [IDEA 1]
2️⃣ [IDEA 2]
3️⃣ [IDEA 3]

Add 4 & 5 if necessary

Inspire content is all about connecting with your ideal customers/clients. A great way to do this is sharing relatable experiences/stories. So you could share how you reduce stress in a particular area of your life or business, for example.

Asking questions is a great way to create community content (perfect for creating content for Facebook groups and Instagram Stories).

So you could ask your followers to share what makes them stressed in a particular context (or at a particular type of year). It’s important to be specific – otherwise people have to think too hard and won’t respond.

To create an educate post you can share tips/tactics on reducing stress. If you know your ideal customers/clients you should know what their common stress ‘points’ are. For example, I know my clients struggle to find time to create content to promote their business when they’re busy with client/delivery. Product-based businesses often struggle at times of the year when they are likely to get lots of orders.

Remember also that the word ‘stress’ has multiple meanings/interpretations. For example, if you’re a physiotherapist, you might focus on avoiding or treating stress fractures. If you’re a piano teacher, you could share the most common physical stresses of playing the piano (and how to avoid them).

If you’re a product-based business, it’s important to see yourself as an expert in the products you sell- rather than focusing on the product itself (unless you sell products/services that are specifically aimed at reducing stress). For example, as someone who sells a product – my Courageous Content Planner & Content Kit – I could create a post on how to avoid getting stressed and overwhelmed with content planning.

World Quality Day (November 10)

The theme of quality/improvement can be applied to any business/brand…

To create a news/trends post, share tips/tactics on improving the quality of something in a particular month/season or time period.

For example:

How to get along better with your family this Christmas

or

How to make melt in your mouth pastry for mince pies

Sharing a book that’s improved the quality of your life or business could make a great inspire post.

For example:

A book that’s really inspired me to
[INSERT SOMETHING YOUR IDEAL CUSTOMERS/
CLIENTS WANT TO IMPROVE IS] is [INSERT NAME OF BOOK].

It inspires me because [INSERT REASON 1],
INSERT REASON 2] & [INSERT REASON 3].

What’s a book that really inspires you?

Inspire content can also be about inspiring people to invest in your products/services. So if you have a product/service World Quality Day could be the perfect opportunity to create a post on how you make your product – including the materials and methods used.

Community posts can be so quick and easy – you just need to ask relatable questions. So just think of a topic that your ideal customers/clients will have opinions about and ask this.

What makes a quality [INSERT TOPIC]?

Inspire content can also be about inspiring people to invest in your products/services. So if you have a product/service World Quality Day could be the perfect opportunity to create a post on how you make your product – including the materials and methods used.

To create an educate post, take a similar approach to the news/trends post i.e. share tips/tactics on improving the quality of something e.g. how to create more engaging social media videos or how to reduce fuzz if you’re a curly girl. Educate post don’t have to be seasonal – so just think about how you can solve problems/add value.

Have a Bad Day Day (November 19)

This is a super relatable topic – because it’s happened to us all.

To create a news/trends post you can recommend books/films/TV shows (anything in fact) that might pick your ideal customers/clients up after a bad day.

For an inspire post, you could share a relatable quote/meme that relates to having a bad day. By the way, my Courageous Awareness Days Content Kit includes a specific session on how to create shareable memes/quotes (along with an audio training on how to turn awareness days into content). It also includes 100+ Anytime fill-in-the-gaps social media post templates that will help you create social media posts fast. The kit also includes a copy of my 2023 Courageous Content Planner (whilst stocks last).

Community content is all about creating connections and conversations so you could ask your ideal customers/clients what they do to feel better when they’ve had a bad day.

You can create an educate post simply by sharing tips on having a bad day that you know will be relatable. For example, if you coach teachers, think about the times of year your clients may be most stressed/have a bad day e.g. at the start or end of term and/or during a school inspection.

Small Business Saturday (November 26)

This is a great opportunity to support small businesses,

To create a news/trends post you could share a list of local/small businesses you recommend buying gifts from this Christmas. Or list out the reasons people should buy Christmas gifts from small businesses (this is a good post for product based business owners).

Sharing a small business owner who had been a great role model could make a great inspire post. If you sell products, sharing the reasons people should buy Christmas gifts from small businesses (like yours) could be good for business.

To create a quick community post simply ask your business owners to recommend small business owners they buy from and/or will be buying from this Christmas.

You could create an educate post by sharing a list of ways to support small businesses (even if you aren’t able to invest in their products/services).
