Need some content ideas for August?

Janet Murray Courageous Content Podcast Headshot

In this episode of the Courageous Content Podcast, I’ll share four ready-to-go content ideas for August. Use them as inspiration for social media posts, blogs, newsletters, podcasts…whatever content you create to promote your business.

You can listen to the podcast or read the blog version below.

Here’s the awareness days I cover:

Book Lovers Day (August 9)

Share 4 ‘must read’ for your ideal customers/clients. Or ask your community to recommend a book that they’ve found interesting and/or useful.

If you have my Courageous Content Planner the first is an example of an inspire post i.e. sharing content that will inspire your audience to take action – or just make them feel more connected. To turn it into a news/trends post, simply make it more ‘seasonal’ e.g. summer/September reads.

The second is an example of community content which is about building and nurturing your relationship with your audience.

If you have a book, this could be the ideal day to run a special promotion on yours.. This is another example of inspire content because you inspire your audience to take the action of downloading or purchasing your book (you can do this for digital products i.e. EBooks too).

Example: Business Basics Content Playbook

Relaxation Day (August 15)

With more business owners using awareness days in their content, it’s easy to use a date like ‘Relaxation Day’ in a real cliched way e.g. asking your audience how they like to relax.

Here’s 3 non-cliched post ideas for this date.

[INSERT NUMBER] things you can relax about if you’re a [INSERT IDEAL CUSTOMER/CLIENT].

e.g. 5 things you can relax about as a new mum

Don’t get too relaxed about [INSERT TOPIC THAT YOUR CUSTOMERS/CLIENTS WILL RELATE TO] even if you [INSERT REASON PEOPLE MIGHT RELAX]

e.g. Why you shouldn’t get relaxed about your pre-marathon diet – even if it’s not your first one

[INSERT NUMBER] rules you shouldn’t relax when you [INSERT RELATABLE SCENARIO]

e.g. 3 rules you shouldn’t relax when your kids have left home

If you’re a service-based business, this would be perfect timing for explaining how your services make your clients more relaxed. This kind of post works for product-based businesses, too.

Here are some examples:
[INSERT NUMBER] ways [INSERT SERVICE OR PRODUCT] can put your mind at ease
Or
Relax this summer by letting [INSERT PRODUCT OR BUSINESS NAME] do all the heavy lifting for you

If you have my Courageous Content Planner this would be an example of an inspire post.

Example: 2 routes to generating income from online course sales

With a bit of creative thinking you can have a LOT of fun with this date – regardless of the type of business you have.

World Photo Day (August 19)

If you are in the photography business, social media management or marketing, you can share tips on taking better photos, or your favourite apps for editing photos.

Both of these examples are educate style content where you share helpful information.

You can also tell a powerful story using a single photo that means a lot to you. Or talk about a transformation you or your clients have had with before and after photos.

These would be community style posts which help your audience learn more about you.

Another example of community content is to simply pick a funny or relatable photo and share that with your community.

Example: Podcasting improvisation

World Entrepreneurs Day (August 21)

This is a great way to share what inspired your entrepreneurial journey – and/or invite others to do the same.

If you have my Courageous Content Planner the former is an example of inspire style content, the latter is community content.

You could also create an ‘educate’ style post by sharing tips for entrepreneurs (if it’s relevant to your customers/clients).

For example:

[INSERT NUMBER] tips on [INSERT CHALLENGE] for (beginner) entrepreneurs
How to [INSERT CHALLENGE] as a solopreneur

Or

Best advice on [INSERT CHALLENGE] for any entrepreneur

You could also create a ‘people to follow’ post.

For example:

Or
