Need some content ideas for September?

In this episode of the Courageous Content Podcast, I’ll share four ready-to-go content ideas for September. Use them as inspiration for social media posts, blogs, newsletters, podcasts…whatever content you create to promote your business.

You can listen to the podcast or read the blog version below.

Here’s the awareness days I cover:

In my episode on how to turn awareness days into content (without being cheesy, cliched or sounding like everyone else online), I shared 3 approaches you can take to turning awareness days into content – do have a listen if you haven’t already – but here’s a quick summary.

  • Literal
  • Theme-Based
  • Metaphorical

If you have my Courageous Content Planner, you’ll be familiar with the four styles of content I recommend (if not, here’s a summary).

News/trends: solves a problem and/or answers a question for your ideal customers/clients – that is timely and relevant at the time of publication

Inspire: reassures your customers/clients and inspires them to take action (including buying your product/service)

Community: nurtures your relationship with your audience

Educate: answers a question for your ideal customers/clients – that is timely and relevant at the time of publication

Be Late For Something Day (September 5)

This is an example of a date where you might take a more theme-based or more metaphorical approach.

For example, to create news/trends post, you could find books/films/TVs shows that have an anniversary in 2022 that you missed the first time around and ask your audience to share theirs.

To create an inspire post, you could share an inspiring story, message or even a meme/quote about a lesson you learned too late – or give a reminder that it’s not too late to learn the piano, start a business or take up ice skating.

You could create a quick and engaging community post by simply asking: what are you never late for or always late for.

Sharing tips/strategies on dealing with lateness that are relevant to your business (e.g. late payers, colleagues who are late to meetings) could be a very useful piece of educate content.

Another take on this day would be to create a post around ‘better late than never’ and offer support to your ideal customers/clients. September is a month when people get back to their normal routine after the summer holidays, and this could be a great opportunity to promote your services/products to those who have not yet taken the plunge and invested in your business.

Make Your Bed Day (September 11)

If relevant, you can share/advice and tips on sleep that are relevant to your audience (this could work for either news/trends and educate content).

If not, how about raising some issues people mustn’t ‘go to sleep on’ in your industry/space i.e. things you shouldn’t ignore.

Here’s some fill-in-the gaps educate style ideas on that theme

  • [INSERT NUMBER] THINGS YOU MUSTN’T IGNORE IF YOU WANT [INSERT OUTCOME YOUR IDEAL CLIENT DESIRES]
  • Warning signs you mustn’t ignore if [INSERT OUTCOME YOUR IDEAL CLIENT DESIRES]
  • What to do if ______________ is ignoring you

And sharing an issue you went to sleep on (and wish you hadn’t) could make a great inspire post.

Sleep – along with books, music and pets – is a topic that rarely fails to get engagement. And do remember you don’t always have to talk business.

Simply asking people how much sleep they get, where they sleep/how they sleep, whether they use a sleep tracker…are all quick and easy ways to create community content – which is vital for building know, like and trust with your audience.

World Gratitude Day (September 21)

You can easily create a listicle post of things to be grateful in September.

There are fill-in-the-gaps templates for this type of post in my Courageous Content Planner & Content kit to show you how.

  • [INSERT NUMBER] things to be grateful for in September if you’re a [CALL OUT IDEAL CUSTOMER/CLIENT]

For example, if you are former teacher who provides resources for home educators, you might rate a news/trends posts like this:

  • 3 things to be grateful for in September if you’re a home educator.

To create an educate post just remove the seasonal part i.e. September.

To create an inspire post, simply share a story, quote or meme.

You could even share a testimonial or email from a client/customer who took the time to express their gratitude to you.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to create community content is to ask questions e.g. who would you most like to say thank you to or share a mistake you made you were grateful for …

International Podcast Day (September 30)

You don’t need to be a podcaster to share content about podcasting.

News/trends – share must listen podcasts for September, final quarter of the year/autumn.
Inspire – share a podcast/podcaster that inspires you. Or – if you have a podcast – what inspired you to start your own?
Community – Ask your audience for their podcast recommendations. I asked what annoyed people about podcasts which worked really well.
Educate – must listen podcast if you need to _____________.

For example:
