Learn more about the March 2022 Instagram updates – and you can use them in your content creation.
In March 2022, Instagram added a bunch of new features that could help you create more engaging content in your business (and make more sales).
In this episode of the Courageous Content Podcast, I share some of those updates – and how they might impact your content.
You can listen to the podcast or read the blog version below.
Here’s what I cover:
One of the things I’m most excited about is being able to ‘favourite’ accounts.
To ‘favourite’ an account, go to the home feed, tap the Instagram logo (top left) and select ‘favourites’ from the dropdown menu.
This is because Instagram now has three feeds. These are:
Home Feed: a feed Instagram create based on what it thinks you are interested in, ranked using the algorithm (like TikTok’s For You page).
Favourites Feed: a feed you can populate by creating a list of accounts that specifically interest you.
Following Feed: a chronological stream of posts from all of the accounts that you follow.
You can now like Instagram Stories without sending a DM – a little furry of hearts appear bottom left.
Polls in stories now have up to four options (and the layout is much improved).
Apparently you can now get an Avatar of yourself – but at the time of writing (March 2022) I don’t have this feature yet. You can see what it looks like on this post from the Preview App.
When you add a new post, you can now add a reminder underneath your post – which is perfect if you have an upcoming event, are closing up a launch – or want to promote an upcoming Instagram Live.
Other updates include the introduction of Facebook Reels and a new function that allows you to reply to comments on a post with an Instagram Reel.
